OUR PURPOSE

The School Resource Officers (SRO) unit provides law enforcement services within Henry County School system. They investigate allegations of criminal incidents, enforce state and local ordinances and protect the rights of all individuals. Our School Resource Officers work to prevent juvenile delinquency through close contact and positive relationships with our students.

The School Resource Officers establish and maintain a close partnership with school administrators in order to provide for a safe school environment. They work with administrators in emergency crisis planning and conduct multiple building security sweeps daily. These deputies are visible within the school community and participate regularly in school functions. They build professional working relationships with the school’s staff as well with the student and parent groups.

Our School Resource Officers develop and implement classes in law related education and safety classes for our students. They work with our guidance counselors and other student support staff to assist students, provide services to students involved in situations where referrals to service agencies are necessary and assist in conflict resolution efforts. The School Resource Officers mentor our students and present a positive role model. Very importantly, this team of professionals is dedicated to mentoring and developing positive behaviors. Their aim is focused on reducing and preventing entry into the criminal justice system and increasing HCSO's youth engagement.
